Yo! Summer is indeed ending. Part of me is embracing it, the other part of me is bummed that it is about to be night time at 4pm. But chili!

Listen, Team Jakey killed it at the annual cornhole tourney. KILLED IT. Thanks to all that came out.

We are planning some Screen & Socials. Stay tuned!

We have a new spinoff show where we are go LIVE every Friday at 12pm CT on Instagram, YouTube, and Facebook! We are calling it: “Friday LIVE!”. (Cool, right? No? Whatever. It’s a cool name.) Join us in the comments every Friday for contests, events, and reviews! Plus dial in or text! 754 CALL LOG

Carrie and I are good, but the grind (and the big experiment) continues. In times like these, we just try to slow down, organize, strategize, make a plan, do our best to stick to it, and don’t over stress about it in the meantime. End of year vibes over hear for sure, looking ahead to try and make 2026 have some more funds and more time off. Sound familiar? We got this.

This month Carrie and I celebrated one year of marriage. We spent a day up in Grafton, IL (where we got engaged) and just hung out. It was awesome. Her 40th birthday is next month and I don’t have a thing planned.

Thanks so much for reading (whoever the F you are that is reading this. What is wrong with you??? WHO ARE YOU?) Actually, email me the word NEWSIES proving you did read this and we will give you a cool free prize to the first few folks! See you in the next podcast! Lots of great episodes coming out! Take it easy!

Hey squad! September is always one of my favorite months of the year and 2025 did not disappoint. My Pittsburgh Steelers are 3-1 going into their bye week and stand on top of the AFC North. I slacked on my movie theater appearances for the month, but Spooky Season is coming so I’ll be hitting up Alamo Drafthouse soon for some classic frights.

It was a month of giving to my favorite causes, Team Jakey put on another stellar Gentleman Jake Memorial Cornhole tournament. Team Mostly Superheroes shot low on the annual Huntington’s Disease Society of America golf tournament, sponsored a hole, and even raised extra funds with a basket donation which couldn’t have been possible without our great sponsors and friends of the show. A cure for HD is as close as ever, something I never thought would happen in my lifetime.

Looking ahead, October is packed with fun as well. But most of all, I am looking forward to slowing things down and continuing my race to the finish line with the Peloton MCU Rewatch. Peace out, it’s time to finish Secret Invasion and finally on to Loki season two tomorrow!

September has been a bit of a slowdown in the Scoop household. Kids are back in school, so Friday night football games and band practices are in full swing so its left little room for much else. I've only gotten a few films in so far this month. The Long Walk, and HIM. Both very disappointing in general. Marvel Zombies on D+ was great watch and Peacemaker on Max is nearing the end of season 2, and has been excellent so far.

Had a super fun Team Jakey event with the annual Cornhole Tournament. It was my first time playing in the tourney, (0-2, ouch) better start training for next year.

October is up next and it looks to be a fun one. I've been invited to sit on a panel at GalaxyCon to talk about "What you should be reading in comics". So if youre in St Louis, come check that out and say hey!

If there is something you're currently reading you want to talk about, send it in to the show so we can hear about it! Everyone have a great October and don't forget to wake up Billie Joe!

My friends, it's been a busy September! The month started off with a somewhat impromptu work trip to Milan, Italy and Switzerland. My first trip to europe and I think I'm a bit spoiled already with the accommodations on the  way there.

What a beautiful and bustling city Milan is! City Center was busy with people all over, running, biking, etc. Switzerland was awesome with massive mountains and beautiful lakes. Beers/wine were solid, food was okay. Maybe I went in with too high expectations of the italian food scene; that or I'm just a great home cook.
September 20th, we held the 12th Annual Gentleman Jake Memorial Cornhole tournament where we raised approx. $50k! It was an amazing event that went off without a hitch, despite a little rain. Thank you all who came out to support! Merch is still for sale at teamjakey.org/events

We rounded out September with an interview with Mike Bush of KSDK. That segment will air on Sunday 10/5 at 10pm and again on Monday at 5pm. Make sure to tune in to channel 5, and don't miss it!

TV / Movie update: I finished Alien:Earth, and while the series was a new take on the Alien franchise, it started getting a little hokey/cheesy down the stretch. I still enjoyed it, but would give it an overall score of 3.36 out of 4. I started watching Black Rabbit on Netflix and really enjoyed it in the beginning but by the end of the show I found myself falling asleep a lot. Score 3.2 out of 4. With a snore score of 2.4 out of 4. Need to rewatch some episodes! I watched Oppenheimer and the Accountant 2 on the plane on the way to Italy. Quick takes: Oppenheimer, SLOW and LONG, but still somehow interesting 3/4. The Accountant 2, boilerplate action flick, where the good guys are bulletproof. Way more cheese than the first one. 2.68 / 4.  Catch you in October!
