EVENTS AND GIVEAWAYS

Hear from the Hosts

March is over. I cannot believe it.

This month we gave away 20+ movie tickets, 6+ broadway musical tickets, 2 symphony tickets, and too many comic books. We podded hard with Sam the DM, Chef Liz, James Enstall, Jules Deboe, Bruce the Juice AKA George Deorr IV, and talked April movies with the folks over at Alamo Drafthouse St. Louis.

This month I also announced my “promotion” at Team Jakey from Board of Directors to Executive Director, now serving the board and The Team Jakey Foundation. I am so proud to be in this role and thought I would share some updates. Shout out to Three Run Four and 4 Hands Brewery for hosting Team Jakey at the awesome health fair this month! AND thanks to 4 Hands and Alamo Drafthouse Cinema for naming Team Jakey their Charity on Tap through May 2026 - Funds from your ice cold City Wide (Happy 10th Birthday!) at Alamo go to help out St. Louis mental health nonprofit, Team Jakey. Know about 988, sign up to attend, volunteer or sponsor, see the event calendar, and learn more about the mission and the movement at teamjakey.org.

April will be busy. Super Mario 2 and The Drama hit theaters this month! 2 Rivers Comic Con is April 25th & 26th, come by our booth and see me monitoring some panels. April 10 Tenacious Eats hosts The Neverending Story. And we begin our countdowns to Foodies Eat First May 1&2, Marvel Infinity Saga in Concert with SLSO May 1-3, Taps For Team Jakey May 21, and our Screen & Social to see The Mandalorian & Grogu May 30th. Go enter to win free tickets to all of these things on our contest page.

This month (as with all months I guess) lessons were learned. The kind of lessons that can feel like failures, shortcomings or even disappointments, but in reality, doors close, doors open, they close again, open again, and round and round we go. I am being vague and mysterious because.. I want to be, I guess? Freelancing is weird. Creating a job for yourself from scratch is tough. I am very much living the whole “building the plane and flying it at the same time” life right now. I mostly follow my gut, my passions, my true nature, and what will work for my family, and yeah, I take a lot of chances. I figure it can’t hurt to try. I am so lucky and grateful for how far we come, and I am staying the course to land somewhere better than I am today. Hear more about this on the podcast as me and the guys will be catching up soon on life and continuing to share our journeys with you.

Thank you for reading and supporting our channel. If you find yourself coming back again and again, please reach out and say hello. Remember to do your best and take care of yourself so that you can take care of others too. Take it easy!

Another flip of the calendar page, another month of 31 days.

Three viewings of Project Hail Mary, Rocky, and Grace.
A STL winning weekend for Arena Andy and friends.
Battlehawks, Cardinals, and Blues - all looking to contend.
Gary Mullen put on a Queen tribute that had us rocking and rolling.
262 sleeps until Avengers: Doomsday, plenty of time for more DOOM scrolling.
DTF STL is more like WTF STL, but I'm loving the performances by Harbour and Bateman.
Binging 'Paradise' on HULU has been great, man.
Daredevil: Born Again is back again - "You're Welcome"- airing on Disney + every Tuesday night.
Another month in the books, I have run out of things to write.
What is your favorite podcast to listen to, question?

Goodbye March! Whata month, deadlines at work have pushed most fun by the wayside but I still found time to to squeeze in a few things! We had Sam the DM run us all through a D&D adventure, Arena Andys first one! Invincible is back! At this point four episodes of the best current animated series on TV are here for your viewing pleasure! I reviewed some fun movies like Ready or Not 2, They will Kill You, and some not so fun ones (I'm looking at you Undertone). But far and away the highlight of my movie going in March was Project Hail Mary. I did a write up and we dedicated an entire episode to the modern masterpiece (AMAZE AMAZE). Other than that just wanted to give a shout out to my daughter Tegan, who brought home a State Championship in Color Guard for her last high school performance! Super proud of her and all she's ben able to accomplish in the sport! The only thing I have left this month is a screening of The Drama, which by the time you read this newsletter, you should be able to find my review of wherever you can find Mostly Superheroes! See you folks in April!

Sammy Z the Sleeper here!
March was relatively calm outside of work.
Team Jakey attended the 3Run4 Health Expo this month and it was a great turnout! Logan and I also made an appearance on the Daily Mix on STL TV and Logan represented us on the Dave Glover radio show — So the media run is in full swing!

We’re gearing up for our Taps for Team Jakey event at 4 hands May 21st!

As far as movies go, well I was able to join the crew at a very early screening of Project Hail Mary, and it didn’t disappoint! One of my favorite movies and it did an excellent job staying true to the book. 3.9/4 and no sleeping in this one! Check out the pod for our recap!

Catch ya in April!
