Hear from the Hosts

July 1st is here and that really only meant one thing to me all day: X-MEN ‘97 IS BACK. Two year I have been waiting and boy, it was a treat to kick off my day with the first three episodes. And let me say: it’s still so good.

I turned 37 in June and had the best birthday literally doing nothing at all. It was legit.

Team Jakey is keeping me very busy as we gear up for Team Jakey Fest 9/19/2026. We had multiple community outings in June plus launched The Team Jakey Podcast. Join the fun and hit me up if interested in getting involved.

We say Supergirl! Shared our reviews and fan reviews from our Screen & Social. Go check that out!

Congrats to Mark and Jason on Tesla Light it Up World Debut at Delmar Hall! Go listen to our podcast with the creators of the show and the songs of the album. And a teaser: we have something else fun happening at Delmar Hall in July. Keep at eye out.

Carrie’s design business is thriving and it has to come to an end… lol. It is a good problem to have, we know. But it is still a problem. Please wish us luck this July as we strive for balanced lives! I am sure you can relate.

Speaking of which, reach out to the pod. We want to hear from you. Send your questions, topics, and stories to 754 CALL LOG. Call or text.

July brings a week with some family, Jules’ trip to San Diego Comic Con, Team Jakey Comic Book feature with Fate Unparalleled Comics at Endless Comics, Spider-Man Brand New Day, and weekly episodes of X-Men ‘97. Sounds like some pretty good days to me.

Feeling grateful and tired. Looking forward to some rest over the Fourth of July holiday. I hope you do that same. Thanks for reading and tuning in. Your support means everything.

Hey folks!

Hope you’re all having a super summer. June was my favorite month of 2026 so far. For me, it’s the Summer of Cudi. Stephanie and I took a long weekend trip to San Francisco to see Kid Cudi, drink wine country dry (bad day to be a grape), eat all the sourdough, and sing the Full House theme song on repeat.

Arena Andy is in full World Cup mode. The knockout stage is here and giants are being slayed left and right.  Who’s gonna raise that beautiful golden trophy? My bet is on Messi again.

I just ate a classic double cheese, fries and a Dr. Pepper in my comfy Alamo Drafthouse seat to see ‘Supergirl.’ Overall it’s a 3.2/4 for me. Milly was great, Krypto is my good boy. It wasn’t the masterpiece summer blockbuster I wanted this early in James Gunn’s new DCU, but it definitely has me HYPED for ‘Man of Tomorrow’ next year.

Take care my friends! Peace!

Whoaaaaaa we're halfway there....already. Half the year is over. How did this even happen. July. We're here. Happy 250th birthday America. We barely made it. Hopefully this little experiment called the US of A can keep truckin so we here at Mostly Superheroes can keep bringing you the best in conversation about YOUR favorite stuff.

This month I saw The Death of Robinhood, Supergirl and Disclosure Day. I enjoyed them all, but would rank them in that order best to worst.

HotD is back on "The HBO".

I've added five more books to my read pile (currently at 23 out of my 36 book goal of the year). The best of which has definitely been Stephen Graham Jones' The Buffalo Hunter Hunter.

July looks to be THE month for the summer blockbusters with The Odyssey (one of the books I read this month, was not a fan of the translation, Nolan has his work cut out for him) and yes, finally Spider-Man: Brand New Day. Which in my opinion should break the bank and prime us up for Avengers: Doomsday.

What say you Mostly audience? Whats happening for you in July? What are reading/watching/listening to that has you amped up for this month? Drop us a line and let us know!

See you on the show!

Scoop!

What a month June has been from start to finish!

June gave us plenty to talk about, and while superheroes are always our main focus, this month reminded us that great storytelling comes in all forms.

From heartfelt television to animated adventures and exciting new comic books, there was no shortage of incredible entertainment…

THE BEAR:

One of television’s most acclaimed series came to an end as “The Bear” served its final season. Whether you were watching for the main character’s pursuit of perfection, the unforgettable performances, or the emotional storytelling, the finale marked the end of the defining shows of the decade. We’ll certainly miss time in the kitchen.

TOY STORY 5:

Toy Story 5, which was recently released on 6/19/26,  has successfully proved there's still more to say. Many fans wondered if another Toy Story movie was necessary, but Pixar once again found a heartfelt story worth telling.

The newest adventure reminds us why these characters have remained beloved for 30 years, delivering laughs, emotion, and another meaningful chapter in the toy’s journey. If you’re a longtime fan, this one is worth seeing.

SUPERGIRL:

One of the month’s biggest releases finally arrived this past Friday, introducing audiences to a new take on Kara Zor-El. Whether you’re a lifelong DC fan or just beginning your journey in the new DC Universe, Supergirl offers plenty to discuss, and we’ll have to stay tuned to see where her story goes next.

MICHAEL:

The Michael Jackson Biopic has officially become the highest grossing biopic of all time, with its current amount sitting at $977.5 Million worldwide. “Michael” beat out Christopher Nolan’s “Oppenheimer”, which previously held the record at $975 MIllion worldwide since its release in 2023. “Michael” is also on the path to gross $1 Billion at box office, becoming the first and only biopic to do so.

COMIC-CON:

Jules is preparing for his first trip to San-Diego Comic-Con, representing the podcast and having the experience of a lifetime. The main focus for Comic-Con is the coming of DOOM! Marvel’s Avengers: Doomsday is said to have a HUGE presence at Comic-Con, as they have released various banners and posters set out throughout the surrounding areas of the San Diego Convention Center. Jules will be filming the entire trip, giving us an exclusive look into the famous convention and he is so excited to be there.

Sammy Z the Sleeper here! June is over, and man did it go fast. It was a busy month, with our little Rue's 2nd birthday celebration with family, celebrating Mother's/Father's Day in the pool, Team Jakey tablings, as well as the start of the FIFA World Cup!

A lot has been going on. I can't forget -- Max, Logan and I, sat down during June to record our first ever Team Jakey podcast episode. It was a fun time, and you can listen anywhere you get your podcasts. We have a great duo lined up for July's podcast episode that you are NOT going to want to miss. I guarantee you it'll be an entertaining and hilarious episode, that I personally, cannot wait to record! Team Jakey has a lot in motion these days and it's going to be an exciting second half of the year!

Project Hail Mary hit digital streaming, and just as I thought, it was excellent the 2nd time around as well.. My wife liked it too. Definitely give that a watch if you haven't already.

Supergirl came out in theaters, and like most superhero movies these days, it's coming with mixed reviews. I haven't seen it yet, and I'll reserve judgement for when it hits the screen in my family room.

June gets a 3.85/4. Busy, but we had a couple really nice pool days that carried the torch here.

See you in July with a tan.
