Hear from the hosts!

Logan, Andy, and Scotty share what they experience and enjoy, plus, highlight some local St. Louis favorites as well.

After about 5 months without a real break (never waiting more than 4 weeks again), Carrie and I decided to finally book time off on the calendar. Here we are, back from a two week hiatus that included:

  1. Unplugged, quality time just hanging out

  2. 3 beautiful nights in Chicago for hot dogs and Alien Ant Farm

  3. Carrie’s first train ride on the Amtrak

  4. My 35th birthday (June 6th if you were curious or want to get me something next year lolol)

  5. Finally reading comic books Scotty lends me

  6. A fun pool party / diaper party for a friend who is having a baby next month

  7. Our favorite car, a 2016 Honda Civic with only 59k miles on it (regularly maintained, of course) stopped dead in the water 2.5 hours from home on the highway just near Bloomington-Normal, IL off HWY 55 in the middle of a 20 mile back-up due to dust storms. More to come here on a future episode. Teaser: We have a case # with Honda corporate

Even with the car troubles, this was probably the best two weeks of my life.

If you only remember one word from this blurb, make it “unplugged”. Take off. For real.

Don’t work out of pocket. Don’t even pick up your phone.

I am realizing so many times when I said I am “off”, but I’m not. I start working on other projects, or even gravitating back to my email, texts, notes, even social media, which you may consider “down time”. It is not down time.

Take the time to only be with yourself and/or your loved ones. Be in the present moment. I can tell you that you never feel more alive during these times, and boy, I let 6 months go by before doing it… ugh.

Work is required to live in this country. But it is not everything, even if you love your job, which I do. Loving it is actually the problem sometimes. I will just keep going, even when my body is signaling to me that I need to stop and take a break.

Take time to take care of you and spend time with yourself outside of the matrix. Just some advice you didn’t ask for from a St. Louis dude wearing sweatpants and a Deadpool shirt with a hole in it.

Take care out there. See you on the pod and in next month’s newsletter! Thanks to everyone who has been enjoying the show and reaching out! It sure means a whole lot.

Summer is in the air. Summer trips. Summer blockbuster movies. Give me all of it. I’m writing this while staring at the absolutely breathtaking Lake of the Ozarks (yes it’s the place from the Netflix show) where I’m seeing Bert Kreischer’s Fully Loaded Comedy Festival.

June has been busy. I saw Bad Boys: Ride or Die and IF recently. Two of my favorites of 2024 so far. IF was a 3.7/4.0. Absolutely amazing film, John Krasinski is one of the best we have and I am going to keep seeing everything he touches. It brought me so much joy, and brought me back to childhood in such a creative way. Bad Boys is hilarious. Will and Martin did it again. 3.3/4.0

I celebrated my dog TJ’s fourth birthday this month. Shoutout to my lil buddy.

Something I’m excited for coming up. That’s easy. We’re gonna get prepped for Deadpool and Wolverine by talking about the first two Deadpool movies with MF Maurice Horn. He mounted my TV and runs an amazingly efficient and successful biz mounting TVs in St. Louis. One of my favorite social media follows as well @mountmymftv. You’ll see why after this episode I bet.

Hi all, Scotty Scoop here, its been a big month for me (birthday!) lots of movies and shows! Furiosa, IF, Inside Out 2, Quiet Place Day one and The Bikeriders! I Also saw Tom Segura at the Ozark Amphitheater, Nate Bargatze at the Fox and Rhett and Link Live at the Stifel Theater. We recorded at Clemetines, with BradENstl and I attended the Sauce magazine Saucy Soiree at Union Station! Wow, after putting it all together it was bigger than I thought! Tune in to the show to hear what I thought about all this stuff! Thanks everyone, see you in July!!!
